Watson Firefighters were called to a structure fire at 210 Parmenter Drive in Watson Friday just before noon. Homeowner Lindell Coleman reported a detached garage was on fire which had a motorcycle and two vehicles inside.

Upon arriving on the scene the firefighters discovered the garage fully involved in flames with the roof and a sidewall already collapsed.  Winds pushed the fire north and caused damage to the siding of a nearby residence.

A full still alarm was requsted by the Watson Fire Department and they recieved aid at the scene from Effingham, Teutoplois, and Dieterich Fire Departments while Altamont and Edgewood fire crews covered the Watson station.

One firefighter was assessed by Abbott EMS for over-exertion but was soon cleared by EMS personnel.

The garage and contents were deemed a total loss at an undetermined dollar value. The cause of the fire remains under investigation as a State Fire Marshall was called to the scene.

Firefighters cleared the scene around 1:30pm.
