Olney resident Glenn Ramey has pleaded guilty to predatory criminal sexual assault in an incident that resulted in the death of an eight-year-old girl.

The girl was found dead the night before Thanksgiving in 2016 outside a commercial building on the south side of Olney.

A charge of first degree murder against Ramey was dismissed as part of the plea agreement. Ramey entered an open plea, meaning there is no guarantee as to a maximum sentence he might receive.

Judge Larry Dunn ordered a sentencing hearing for the morning of March 22 in Richland County Circuit Court.

Ramey went through a jury trial in 2017 where he was judged fit to stand trial for the offenses. That trial was held in Effingham County.

Ramey remains in custody in Richland County under $10 million bond.
