The federal government is getting back to work after Congress passed a short-term funding bill.

Congressman John Shimkus (R, Illinois-15) released the following statement after voting for a three-week continuing resolution:

“No one wins in a shutdown. Thankfully this one is over. The bill I voted for today was exactly the same as the one I voted for last week with a change in the date. Now the government is open, our military is being paid, and children’s health care is paid for and extended for six years. Let’s get to work on a final spending bill and immigration reform. Our constituents expect nothing less.”
