Flora Mayor Bob Tackitt Dies (UPDATE)

Flora Mayor Bob Tackitt has died.

The mayor died Monday after battling an illness. He was 69.

Funeral services are scheduled for Friday at 11am at Frank and Bright Funeral Home in Flora with interment with military honors at Elmwood Cemetery in Flora. Visitation will be from 4 to 7pm Thursday.

Flora City Administrator Austin Edmondson Jr. said no action is required to fill the mayor's position at this time. When the City Council does address the issue, an interim mayor will be chosen from among the city commissioners. They are Ed McCormick, Mike Stanford, Phil Wiley and Rick Slaughter.
