North Clay school board members this week heard and discussed allegations involving an alleged inappropriate coaches' meeting hosted by a citizen and possible employees and/or board members.

The Board discussed some things briefly, then tabled the matter for closed session. There was no action by the Board on the matter following the closed session.

Transportation Director Bryan West was present to share a gift given by a bus driver and to praise the bus driver team.

There was a report on North Clay faculty members participating earlier this month in a School Improvement Day. Teachers were able to visit Richland County schools or South Central schools. The day allowed teachers an opportunity to see the inner workings of other schools and a chance to collaborate with other educators.

There was also information shared on the North Clay High School food class annual Bread Week earlier this month. Mrs. Kemmerer's class set a record by baking 853 loaves of bread. Proceeds benefitted the food program.

The Board passed the tax levy for the new fiscal year; heard from teacher Debbie Cox about her recent trip to Africa; approved four days of personal days for Stacey Burkett to be taken in late January; and accepted the resignation due to retirement of long-time district attorney Karl Meurlott as of December 31.

Board members discussed a HVAC project within the district. Architect Ed Kirchner and engineer Bill Whitlow attended to discuss some of the options for the project, and the potential timeline. Possibilities for the project were discussed and several questions were asked. It was decided to put the issue on the January meeting agenda to discuss a possible project.

The Board hired Bill Hardiek as a volunteer assistant 5th and 6th grade coach, and approved an overnight trip request for Jennifer Iffert and Kim Harrison to a workshop in St. Louis in March.
