The Effingham County Board Monday amended its liquor license where it concerns one-day events.

The license in the past only allowed beer at such events; the change approved Monday will allow wine and spirits to be served, as well.

The Board updated its policy prohibiting sexual harassment. The change conforms with changes at the state level.

The Board agreed to continue its agreement for another year with the State's Attorney's Appellate Prosecutor Service for $12,000. The service assists the State's Attorney's Office with cases on appeal, and where the State's Attorney's Office might have a conflict. Also approved was resolutions regarding five parcels of property on which taxes were delinquent to get the parcels back on the tax rolls.

Board members agreed to a proposal from CASA (Court Appointed Special Advocate), which is located on the third floor of the County Office Building. The agency will expand their office to the mail room, and the mail room will relocate to a vestibule by the CASA Office. CASA will cover the cost of any structural changes needed.

The Board approved the mileage rate for County work during 2018; reappointed Nick Althoff as an at-large member on the County 911 Board; and allocated motor fuel tax revenue for maintenance work, for road materials, and for the salary of County Engineer Greg Koester. His salary in 2018 will be $111,454.76.

County Coroner Duane Guffey reported that RuralMed EMS submitted a working quote for body removal from death scenes; it was reported that work is underway to accommodate guidelines that don't allow sleeping quarters for ambulance personnel to be located in a facility that doesn't have a sprinkler system; County Board Chairman Jim Niemann reported that the Teamsters local representing employees of the County Highway Department has been de-certified; and Board Vice-Chairman Dave Campbell reported that there is $32,000 in the revolving loan fund for those with new or expanding business endeavors to borrow.
