Winners of Effingham Christmas Lighting Contest Announced

The City of Effingham and the Effingham Convention & Visitors Bureau were thrilled with the amount of participation in the fourth annual Christmas light competition "Holiday Lights & Festive Sights"! Organizers received over 1,000 votes in the past week.

The winners of the Holiday Lights & Festive Sights competition are as follows:

• Classic Christmas: Michael & Ashley Janis at 210 Santa Monica Ave
• Clark Griswold: Hayley & Danny Lankford at 604 North Main Street
• Reason for the Season: Jeff Landrus at 901 E Jefferson Ave
• Business: The Orchard Inn – donating their $250 winnings, along with matching the amount (for a total of $500) to Harmony Playground.

Each winner will receive $250 and a sign to be displayed in their yard through January 2, designating them as the winner of their category in the competition. Organizers thanked everyone who participated in the lighting competition this year, whether you nominated yourself or a friend, made the top three or just voted for your favorites. They hope everyone has a Merry Christmas and takes time to visit all of the homes/businesses who helped light up the City of Effingham this year!
