Judge Allen Bennett Dies

The resident circuit judge of Shelby County has died.

Judge Allen Bennett of Windsor was 74. He died Wednesday.

The judge practiced law for 50 years, beginning in 1967. The next year, he was elected Moultrie County state's attorney. He also served a term in the Illinois General Assembly in the 1970s, and worked in Macon County as a public defender.

He was elected Resident Circuit Judge of Shelby County in 2012.

Funeral services will be held at noon Saturday at Windsor Christian Church in Windsor. Visitation will be Friday from 4 to 7pm at Lovins-Lockart Funeral Home in Windsor.
