The City of Effingham plans to mark the start of Illinois' Bicentennial celebration.

A flag-raising ceremony will take place Monday at noon at City Hall.

City Clerk Kelsey Lock will give the welcome and Associate Pastor Matt Farrar of Christ's Church will offer the invocation. The speaker will be City Administrator Jim Arndt and Mayor Jeff Bloemker will read the official proclamation regarding the Bicentennial observance.

The MABAS Division 54 Honor Guard will raise the colors. Students from St. Anthony School will lead in the National Anthem and the Pledge of Allegiance.
