Sentencing has been delayed until the first of the year for a Jasper County man who pleaded guilty to a sex offense.

68-year-old Eugene Ochs of Ste. Marie pleaded guilty in August to aggravated criminal sexual abuse. Ochs was arrested in December of 2016.

Sentencing was scheduled for Tuesday, but was continued until January 2.

Aggravated criminal sexual abuse can be punished by a prison term of from three to seven years. As part of the guilty plea, though, the prosecution agreed to seek no more than three years in prison.

Ochs remains free on bond with the provision that he have no contact with the victim, their guardian or parent, and is to have no contact whether direct or indirect with any child under the age of 18.
