Two people were injured over the weekend when a car crashed on Route 40 east of Teutopolis.

Effingham County Sheriff's Department reports 18-year-old Kayleigh Wease of Big Clifty, Kentucky was traveling east toward Montrose when the crash happened at 1pm Saturday. The report indicates Wease lost control of the car she was driving. The vehicle crossed the opposite lane and hit a ditch embankment.

The two people injured were passengers in the car, 17-year-olds Brian Gabbert of Vine Grove, Kentucky and Damien Criss of Elizabethtown, Kentucky. Both were taken to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham.

Wease was cited for failure to reduce speed to avoid the crash and improper lane usage.
