Wolfe Now Faces 55 Counts

A 42-count criminal information has been filed against former AAU basketball coach Barry Wolfe, alleging aggravated criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual assault. The new information is in addition to a 13-count information filed earlier, for a total of 55 criminal counts.

Coles County State's Attorney Brian Bower said two different victims are alleged in the two cases, one victim in the 13-count information, another in the 42-count information.

Wolfe was in court Thursday morning, and waived his right to a preliminary hearing in both cases. He is due back in court November 30 on a defendant's motion to gauge the status of the case and possibly on a defense motion to review Wolfe's bond. Bond was set at $500,000 on the original case; the bond on the new case was set at $5,000,000. 

Asked whether this is the extent of the case, Bower said the police investigation is ongoing.
