EJ Water Cooperative has been awarded a USDA Rural Development grant of $1.2 million and a loan of $2.615 million. Local Congressman John Shimkus announced the funding.

The funds will be used to replace approximately 43 miles of PVC water main pipes in parts of Effingham and Shelby Counties. The upgrades will increase water pressure to users in this area and enable the entire system to operate at acceptable pressure levels, directly affecting 4,400 users.
