State Crop Report for Week Ending October 29

Harvest continued with cooler temperatures across the state last week.

There were 4.6 days suitable for fieldwork during the week ending October 29. Statewide, the average temperature was 45.5 degrees, 6.3 degrees below normal.

Precipitation averaged 1.07 inches, 0.52 inches above normal. Topsoil moisture supply was rated at 3 percent very short, 16 percent short, 75 percent adequate, and 6 percent surplus. Subsoil moisture supply was rated at 11 percent very short, 25 percent short, 61 percent adequate, and 3 percent surplus.

Corn harvested for grain was 73 percent complete, compared to 84 for the 5-year average.

Soybean harvest was 86 percent complete, compared to 87 percent last year.

Winter wheat planted was at 76 percent, compared to 83 percent last year. Winter wheat emerged was at 54 percent, compared to 51 percent for the 5-year average.

Pasture and range condition was rated 9 percent very poor, 17 percent poor, 46 percent fair, 26 percent good, and 2 percent excellent.
