A man who has coached AAU girls basketball in the region for several years has been arrested in Coles County on sexual abuse and assault charges.

53-year-old Barry Wolfe of Martinsville was arrested Thursday on counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and criminal sexual assault. Wolfe was taken into custody at the Casey Police Department.

Coles County State's Attorney Brian Bower said a 13-count information has been filed against Wolfe, all allegedly involving a girl between the ages of 13 and 17. Bower said one individual victim is alleged. The offenses are alleged to have occurred between February of 2014 and September of 2015.

Bower said some of the offenses allegedly involve sexual conduct while others allege the actions occurred while Wolfe was in a position of authority over the alleged victim.

Wolfe is being held in Coles County Jail in Charleston. Bond has been set at $500,000.

Wolfe is slated to make his initial court appearance on the counts Monday at 9am.

Commenting on the arrest, Mattoon Police Chief Jeff Branson said that additional victims are anticipated.
