OLNEY -- On Monday, October 23, the Olney Police Department along with the Richland County Sheriff’s Department and Illinois State Police responded to the Richland County High School regarding a threat of violence.

After a thorough investigation the Olney Police Department has made two felony arrests for “a threat of violence, death, or bodily harm directed against persons at a school”. The two arrested are juveniles so further information will only come from the Richland County State’s Attorney Office.

The other threats of violence are separate investigations and felony charges will apply.

The Olney Police Department strongly advises private individuals refrain from harassing the juveniles and/or any family members on social media, or by any other means. Any harassment or threats will be taken seriously by law enforcement.
