An arrest warrant has been issued for a Decatur man in connection to recent local motor vehicle thefts and burglaries from motor vehicles.

The warrant has been issued for Damon L. Davis, 19, for Possession of a Stolen Motor Vehicle and Burglary. A joint investigative effort commenced between multiple agencies including Effingham Police Department, Effingham County Sheriff’s Office, Decatur Police Department and Macon County Sheriff’s Office after reports of stolen vehicles and vehicle burglaries occurred in and around the Effingham area on September 24.

In the City of Effingham, two vehicles were reported stolen, as well as reports of one vehicle and one garage burglarized in the area of Bliss Park in the early morning hours of September 24th. During the ensuing investigation, detectives were able to positively identify Davis as one of five suspects in the crime spree. As a result of the cooperative effort between all the agencies, the warrant for Davis was issued Tuesday in Effingham County. Bond has been set at $50,000; ten percent applies for bail. Davis is currently being held in Macon County Jail on unrelated charges.

“I’m extremely pleased with the dedication of our Bureau of Criminal Investigations as well as the other agencies that worked countless hours together to gather evidence to obtain this warrant,” extolled Effingham Police Chief Jeffrey Fuesting. “Our investigation continues into this matter, as we seek additional information that will allow us to pursue warrants for arrests of the remaining suspects and bring justice for the citizens of our community who were affected by this recent criminal activity.”
