The mortgage burning turned into a mortgage shredding, but it was still a time for celebration Friday afternoon at CW Motorsports, the first business to benefit from funds loaned by Effingham County.

The County received a $99,000 grant of Federal funds, with the admonition that the funds be loaned to new and developing businesses to help them with the costs of growth. An Economic Development Advisory Board was created to oversee the program, with County Board Vice-Chairman Dave Campbell as chairman of the board. CW Motorsports has paid off its loan, hence the mortgage shredding. The funds repaid by CW Motorsports are now available to loan to other businesses.
