The Neoga school district faced perilous financial times just a short while back, but things have changed for the better.

Neoga school board members Thursday heard that the district has achieved "financial recognition" status, the highest classification possible available from the State. Also, the monthly cash flow report had nothing but good news to share.

The Board met with attorney Gene Hanses on the possible sale of the former elementary school building. The district's Project HELP program is housed there and a preschool program is meeting there, plus Neoga Christian Church is worshiping while their congregation is completing an addition to their church building. Hanses discussed the procedure, either by auction or by sealed bid, that the District could use to sell the building.

Board members discussed recent donations for scholarships or in general for the district, and awarded the contract for snow removal to Fuller Wente. It was agreed to buy a bus and to sell off a bus and a freezer.

The Board also traded positions for Lucas Hunt and Mike Roy, moving Hunt to frosh-soph boys basketball coach, and moving Roy to junior high basketball coach. It was also voted to hire Mackenzie Thurston as junior high volleyball assistant coach, and to pay varsity volleyball coach Maureen Letizia the assistant coach's stipend since she is working without an assistant this season.
