2017 Chili Fest is Tonight

The weather should be perfect for the 5th Annual Chili Fest in downtown Effingham this evening.

The event is sponsored by the Downtown Effingham Business Group and will run from 5 to 8pm. The central location for Chili Fest will be along Jefferson Avenue and around the old Courthouse Square.

Nearly two dozen businesses will host a chili tasting stop or other food, treats and refreshments throughout the evening. Chili team participants will be vying for the "Judge's Choice", "Spiciest" and the "Most Original" awards. You can also do a little evening shopping as most downtown stores will be open for the event. Many family-friendly activities are also planned this evening, including inflatables and kid's events.

Tasting tickets are $5 for 10 tickets and will be available for purchase at the intersections of Jefferson and 4th, Jefferson and 5th, and west of Jefferson and Banker.

Live entertainment kicks off at 5pm on the Central Stage featuring "Them Gringos".
