(GREG GILLESPIE MAKES A POINT DURING THE OCTOBER CHAMBER FIRST FRIDAY LUNCHEON)

Those of a certain age have wrestled with filing cabinets for years; where do I file this? And do I need to keep this?

Now, there's been a progression to electronic communication; e-mail, iPhones, you name it, it's at your fingertips.

The big question now is, how do I retain all of that electronic information and how can I share with others who might need it?

Greg Gillespie says he has some answers for you.

Gillespie was the guest speaker at the Effingham County Chamber of Commerce First Friday Luncheon. He works with Turnkey Technologies, based in St. Louis, as a business intelligence specialist.

Gillespie says business intelligence is the tool that companies should be using to be more efficient in their daily, monthly, and yearly operations. He listed four goals of any operation seeking to utilize business intelligence: Engage Customers, Empower Employers, Optimize Operations, and Transform Products.

Our Greg Sapp spoke with Greg Gillespie following Friday's luncheon...

Gillespie said he loves data and says we are in a data culture. He said information can be used to know where and how to market merchandise and to share information among others in your workplace.
