The fundraising campaign for Harmony Playground has reached the home stretch.

The accessible-to-all playground was forecast to cost $700,000 when the fundraising effort began. Now, the amount needed has been whittled down to $140,000.

The plan is to start construction of the playground in Spring 2018.

The playground will be located east across Maple Street from the Workman Sports and Wellness Complex, just north of the tennis courts at Evergreen Hollow Park.

Those who'd like to contribute toward the cost of Harmony Playground can mail contributions to: Harmony Playground, Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, PO Box 1211 Effingham, IL 62401. For more information, phone the Effingham Park District at 217-342-6870 or lead fundraiser Aaron Myers at 217-246-5631.
