If you thought it was hotter than usual in the past week or so, you were correct.

The National Weather Service reports that Effingham has tied or broken the record high temperatures for several days recently.

The 96 degree temperature on September 21 tied the record, the 97 degree high Friday broke the record by one degree, the 98 degree high Saturday beat the previous record by three degrees, the 95 degree high Sunday tied the record, the 97 degree high Monday broke the previous record by five degrees, and Tuesday's 94 degree high beat the old record by one degree.

We are finally seeing some relief today...no more broken records for awhile.
