Work is progressing well on the renovated and expanded South Central High School in Farina.

Superintendent Kerry Herdes reported to the school board at this month's meeting that the entire project should be completed by November 1.

The Board at the meeting approved a pilot program for middle school boys and girls track for this year with the middle school sports boosters paying for the program. The Board also approved a joint agreement with OKAW Area Vocational Center for next school year, heard that the budget should be in the black, and learned that enrollment is up 30 students from the previous school year.

The Board approved a change in the retirement letter date from Sue Hawkey; and approved leaves of absence from Charlie Owens, Morgan Crouse, Brittney Kramer and Tracy Hulsey. Several appointments to stipend positions were approved: high school FBLA sponsor Lynn Smith, FCCLA sponsor Stacy Kuhring, high school Science Club sponsor Dereck Koester, high school foreign language club sponsor Chris Long, high school head softball coach and middle school head softball coach Gary Kapper, 8th grade sponsor Stacy Lockhart, art club sponsor Hugh Rosen, and choir director Rosanne Harshbarger.
