Two Vehicle Accident in Vandalia Injures Two

Illinois State Police indicate a vehicle driven by Danielle N. Beck, 26, of Ramsey was traveling southbound on US HWY 51 between W. Fletcher Street and W. Orchard Street in Vandalia. A truck driven by an unnamed 16 year old juvenile from Patoka was traveling behind the Beck Vehicle on US HWY 51 South. Beck began to slow as it approached an Illinois State Police Roadside Safety Checkpoint located on the north lanes of US 51 near W. Orchard Street. The juvenile driver of the truck failed to observe Beck slowing down and collided with the rear of his vehicle.

Beck and his passenger Kristen Ashely Phillips, 26, of Mulberry Grove were taken to Fayette County Hospital for treatment by ambulance.

The juvenile was cited for Failure to Reduce Speed to Avoid an Accident.
