A Vandalia man has been charged with attempted first degree murder and with aggravated domestic battery.

48-year-old Gregory Hill is accused of injuring his wife August 19 when he allegedly threw her to the floor, causing a spinal cord injury that has left her paralyzed.

Fayette County prosecutors say Hill was initially arrested on the aggravated domestic battery count, but they have since decided to file the additional charge of attempted first degree murder.

Hil is next due in court for a pre-trial hearing on October 3, and his jury trial is slated for October 23. Bond for Hill has been set at $750,000.
