Two students received the cars awarded by the 2017 Wheels to Prosper initiative.

A ceremony was held Saturday to announce the recipients, neither of whom knew that they were receiving one of the cars.

This year's recipients are Brooke Daiber of Breese, a senior at St. Louis University, and Blake Barnes of Moweaqua, a student at Shelbyville High School.

Daiber is looking toward graduation. A vehicle will help her pursue a job.

Barnes is a member of the Shelby County CEO class, but was having difficulty always securing a ride to get to class or locations for tours that are a part of the class curriculum.

Those problems have now been resolved for the recipients.

More than two dozen nomination letters were received for the program, which is sponsored by Teutopolis Auto Sales, Probst Auto Body and CW Motorsports. During time on the Morning Show Monday, the sponsors said deciding who would be the recipients is always the toughest part of the contest.
