Teutopolis village board members Wednesday awarded a bid for water and sewer line installation work for the first phase of Prairieview Subdivision, a new residential development in the southeast part of the village.

The project will provide service to approximately 20 lots. The work was awarded to Wayne Lapington Excavating of Louisville for $237,181.88.

The Board also heard from representatives of Farmweld Incorporated, which is in the midst of a major expansion.

The project is estimated to cost more than $9 millon. Farmweld officials are seeking more than $1 million in Tax Increment Financing district funds from the village to help pay for the project. No decision was made by the Board.

Village Board members also approved the subdividing of Wallace Subdivision from one lot into two. The south lot houses the Subway in Teutopolis; the developer hopes to sell off the north lot. It was also decided to purchase a submersible pump for the Garrett Street lift station for $8,289, but declined a two-year preventive maintenance agreement.

The Board also discussed bids on re-roofing the village hall. There has been discussion of replacing the village hall, so the Board is looking at what could be done most affordably. Also, it was decided to let Vision 20/20 to plant a tree in the village. It was decided to plant a red maple, but didn't decide on a location.

The Board also decided to extend sewer service west along Water Street to a home under construction west of Teutopolis Junior High School. The developer will have to annex into the village, provide an easement for the sewer line, and pay their share of the cost of the work.
