Louisiana Man Fatally Injured in Crash North of Salem

A Louisiana man was fatally injured Wednesday morning in a crash in Marion County.
The crash happened at 9:50am on I-57 northbound, 10 miles north of Salem.
State police report a pickup truck driven by 80-year-old Albert Rhodes of Arcadia, Louisiana was traveling south when it crossed the median, spinning sideways, and then entered the northbound lanes. An oncoming semi driven by 49-year-old Tammy Shaw of Winder, Georgia struck the pickup truck on the driver's side.
Rhodes was flown to Barnes Jewish Hospital in St. Louis, where he died of his injuries. A passenger in the pickup truck, 62-year-old Virginia Crosby of Arcadia, Louisiana, was injured and was taken to Salem Hospital.
