Those attending the Stewardson-Strasburg school district Open House in late August toured the complex while work was still underway to finish a grade school restroom project that was supposed to be finished before school opened.

Superintendent Michelle Lindenmeyer said school opened on time, and the restroom is available to students, but work remains to be finished. She said work will resume on Wednesday and will continue until it's completed to the district's satisfaction.

In addition to work on the restroom, the project involves installation of sanitary pipe and renovation of the flooring.

The Board also discussed at its recent meeting work needed to repair a small portion of the roof near the gym lobby and the high school office. Lindenmeyer said the work should cost around $4,000.

In personnel moves, the Stew-Stras board accepted letters of resignation from Gabe Allen as part-time custodian and from Brittany Holsapple as Windsor/Stew-Stras head softball coach. The board hired Jamie Brown as part-time custodian and part-time cook; hired Angie Little as junior high girls basketball assistant coach; hired Christina Browning as substitute Art teacher; hired Diana Vonderheide as full time cook; hired Tracy Warren as substitute cook; and hired Eric Garlik and Victoria Brady as substitute bus drivers and Brady as a substitute cook.

The Board also agreed to co-head teachers for the school year; Cody McCollum at the grade school and Shane Smith at the high school.
