Chain Reaction Accident North of Vandalia

A juvenile from Ramsey was injured in a three vehicle chain reaction crash on U.S. 51 at Vera Road north of Vandalia late Sunday afternoon.

Preliminary investigative details from Illinois State Police indicates a vehicle driven by 50-year-old Lonnie Boswell ran into the rear of a car driven by 19-year-old Samantha Challans who had slowed in traffic. The Challans car was pushed into one driven by 25-year-old Jessica Stanis who had slowed to make a left hand turn.

All three drivers are from Ramsey and escaped injury, but a male juvenile in the Stanis car was taken to Fayette County Hospital in Vandalia by private vehicle.

Boswell was ticketed for failure to reduce speed to avoid a crash.
