Listeners are looking for ways to help victims of Hurricane Harvey.
We received this message this morning from Patricia Logan at the University of Illinois Extension Office in Effingham:
We also heard from Rosemary Percival at the Effingham County Salvation Army office. Salvation Army is encouraging checks be sent directly to their National Headquarters. Here's the address:
Salvation Army
PO Box 1959
Atlanta, Georgia 30301
(please note "Hurricane Harvey" on your check)
You can also phone 1-800-SAL-ARMY or text STORM to 51555.
We have also heard from Adam Moore at Sehy and Jones Optometrists that their location on Keller Drive is also a collection point. They are accepting items to be taken to Our Lady of Refuge in Refugio, Texas.
They are hoping to receive school supplies. They say "anything on the school supply aisle would be appreciated". Other items that would be helpful include:
canned soups, vegetables and meat
soaps
shampoo
personal hygiene products for women
T shirts
underwear and socks
sports bras
Ziploc bags
toothpaste and toothbrushes
applesauce
cereal
