Ste. Marie Man Pleads Guilty to Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse

Jasper County States Attorney, Chad M. Miller announced that on August 24th Eugene C. Ochs (68) from Ste. Marie plead guilty to Aggravated Criminal Sexual Abuse, a Class 2 Felony.

 Ochs entered an open plea which means there is not a set sentence and he is subject to a maximum penalty of between three and seven years in the Illinois Department of Corrections. A sentencing hearing has been set for scheduled for November 21, at 1:00pm at which time the court will hear evidence and sentence recommendations from both sides of the case. 

Pending sentencing Ochs remains released on a $25,000 cash bond he posted with special conditions that he have no contact with the alleged victim, their guadian or parent, and Ochs is to have no contact whether direct or indirect with any child under the age of eighteen years of age.

No matter what sentence is imposed Ochs will be a registered sex offender for the rest of his life.
