Southeastern Illinois Community Foundation, in partnership with EJ Water Cooperative and Parkland College, is hosting an educational opportunity for area farmers to learn more about the use of Unmanned Aerial Vehicles (UAVs) as it relates to crop management, yield, and field management. “UAVs and Imagery: What’s the Value to the Farmer” is a free workshop taking place on Wednesday, September 6 from 12pm-1:30pm at the EJ Water Conference Center (108 S. Main Street, Dieterich).

The workshop will feature guest speakers Jennifer Fridgen, Precision Agriculture Program Director at Parkland College, Amanda Briggs, flight instructor at Parkland College, and Brett Haas, Co-owner and Sales Manager for Crop Copter. Fridgen and Briggs will provide an overview of agricultural applications using imagery and the role UAVs play with acquiring data as well as the workforce demands of the UAV industry and commercial UAV regulations. Haas will discuss Crop Copter’s work with UAVs to produce new applications and return on investment opportunities for growers.

Workshop admission is free and a light lunch will be provided. For more details or to RSVP, contact Amanda Lessley at 217.342.5409 or amanda@enrichingourcommunity.org. Please RSVP byTuesday, September 5.
