Teutopolis officials are moving ahead with formation of a Tax Increment Financing district that encompasses several areas in the village.

The district would include the area on the east end of Teutopolis around Farmweld, as well as in the central part of the village including Siemer Milling Company and then on the west end of the village where the new commercial park is located.

Increases in tax revenue generated in the district is then plowed back into improvements to enhance the district.

The village board also amended the Teutopolis zoning map, rezoning property on the southeast part of the village from non-urban to residential. The village is hopeful the more than 50 lots in what is known as Prairie View Subdivision will be the site of residential housing, bringing more people to Teutopolis.

The Board also agreed to pay Ameren to relocate a power pole on the east edge of the village near Farmweld. Moving the pole will allow a project to proceed to improve a truck entrance at the business.
