The woman who fell from her horse during the final race of this year's Effingham County Fair has been released from the hospital.

Vicki Aviles was riding Hayday's Payday in the open half-mile race for thoroughbreds when she fell off the horse in the turn at the north end of the racetrack at Altamont. It's not known why Aviles fell.

Aviles suffered a cut on her forehead, but also complained of pain in her cranial area. She was airlifted from the track infield to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield for examination.

County Fair Speed Superintendent Dean Wetherell said Monday that Aviles was released from the hospital on Sunday evening
