Weidner Wins Junior Miss; Schultz, Moellers Win Talent Show

Elizabeth Weidner of Teutopolis was crowned 2017 Effingham County Fair Junior Miss Sunday night during a full day of activities at the fairgrounds.

Weidner will assist retiring queen Ashley Jamerson and the new queen to be crowned Tuesday night throughout Fair Week.

Kyandra Zerrusen was first runner-up, Krista Phillips was second runner-up, Peyton Garrard was third runner-up, and Jordynn Rowlee was fourth runner-up. There were 22 contestants in this year's Junior Miss Pageant. Our own Courtney Koester served as emcee for the evening.

Elizabeth had a pretty good day, as she also finished second in the Junior Division of the fair talent show. Kennedi Schultz was the Junior Division winner. the brother-sister duo of Andrew and KayLynn Moeller won the Senior Division. There were 10 contestants in this year's talent show.

The division winners will have the opportunity to compete at the Illinois County Fairs state contest in Springfield in January. If they do well there, they could perform at next year's Illinois State Fair and DuQuoin State Fair.
