An Effingham man was sentenced to prison time this week for a drug offense.

31-year-old Cole Heiden was arrested in 2015 on a charge of possession of controlled substance. He was originally assigned to drug court, but following a violation was returned to the normal court system.

Heiden was sentenced to 18 months in prison. The sentence is concurrent with a sentence from a case from Macon County.

Heiden was given credit for 194 days served in jail awaiting disposition of his case and must pay court costs.
