Teutopolis Village Board members Wednesday acted on the appropriations ordinance for the fiscal year, and again amended the closing times for liquor establishments in the village.

The Board approved an appropriations ordinance siginificantly higher than the previous fiscal year. The increase is in case work can begin to install utilities for a residential subdivision planned in the southeast part of the village.

The change in the liquor ordinance was made at the request of the bar owners in the village.

When the ordinance was amended recently, one change was to eliminate a later closing time on Thanksgiving Eve. For many years, Teutopolis played its Homecoming basketball on that night and celebrations in the community followed. The game was moved off Thanksgiving Eve several years ago, so the village board voted to eliminate the later closing time.

Bar owners in the village, though let village officials know that Thanksgiving Eve is still one of their biggest nights of the year and asked that the later closing time remain in effect. The board voted Wednesday to restore the 1am closing time for Thanksgiving Eve.
