Altamont school board members heard that work is underway to streamline the enrollment process at the high school.

Principal Jerry Tkachuk said he plans a serious look at doing the entire high school registration online next year.

Superintendent Jeff Fritchtnitch said that playground installation is underway at the grade school building. Altamont officials visited other schools to view the makeup of their playgrounds before deciding how to upgrade their facility.

Board members were reminded that golf, cross country, high school fall baseball and sixth grade basketball are all self-funded programs this year.

In personnel moves, the Altamont board accepted the resignation of crossing guard Jessica Rosales; recalled teacher aides Kassie Bullard, Stephanie Hudgens, Laurie Graves, Michelle Stewart and Barbara Williams; hired Mike Delaney as high school boys head track coach and hired Laith Russell as high school girls assistant volleyball coach; approved Mike Ziegler as volunteer high school boys assistant fall baseball coach, Clint Reardon as volunteer junior high boys assistant baseball coach, Charlie Miller as volunteer high school boys assistant fall baseball coach, and Donovan Riley as student teacher volunteer junior high boys baseball coach; and approved a maternity leave for Teresa Lee. Also approved was a 2% pay increase for administration and exempt employees.

Board members heard from Adam Huston regarding a Freedom of Information Act request, and heard from Title I instructor Kim Ledbetter on the Title I program, how it works, and the students it serves.

The board approved an early graduation request; discussed a District maintenance plan; set a special meeting for a building walkthrough on August 1 at 6pm; approved administrative assignments for the coming school year; authorized Fritchtnitch to start work on a budget for the new fiscal year; and tabled action on an intergovernmental agreement regarding the Effingham Regional Career Academy.
