An elderly Cowden man was fatally injured in a crash in Shelby County.

The crash happened Monday at 4:15pm and resulted in the death of 85-year-old Myron Myers of Cowden.

Myers was a passenger in a pickup truck driven by his son, Carl Myers of Beecher City. Shelby County Sheriff's Department reports that Myers' pickup was traveling on a roadway in Rural Township when the vehicle ran off the roadway. The truck struck a culvert for a field entrance and overturned, coming to rest on its top.

Myron Myers was airlifted from the scene by Arch Air to HSHS St. John's Hospital in Springfield, where he died later that day.

Carl Myers declined treatment at the scene.

No citations were issued.
