The Illinois State Police advise of traffic impedance and road closures during the daytime hours from Thursday, July 6th to Saturday, July 8th. The Illinois State Police will be assisting the Illinois Department of Transportation (IDOT) with an oversized equipment permit move. Counties affected are Clay, Effingham, Jasper and Crawford.

This extra-large move is 26 feet wide, 306 feet long, and 898,000 pounds, spread over 26 axles. The unit will begin traveling from south of Flora northward on U.S. 45 to U.S. 50 eastward, then traveling north on the Dieterich Blacktop. Finally, the equipment will take Illinois Route 33 east to Robinson. In order to make preparations to allow the very large load to maneuver safely to its final destination, the route will be temporarily closed to other vehicles in sections. Be alert for slowed or stopped traffic.

Motorists should look for IDOT message boards for information on road closures. Your patience is appreciated as everyone works together to efficiently make room for this super-sized load, while maintaining safe passage for all motorists.
