A traffic stop in Fayette County has yielded a large quantity of heroin.

Fayette County State's Attorney Joshua Morrison has announced that an Illinois State Police trooper stopped a vehicle Monday driven by Raul Perea of Pamona, California.

After receiving consent to search the vehicle, the trooper discovered several black vacuum sealed bags containing an unknown substance. The substance was later tested by the Illinois State Police Lab and was revealed to contain heroin.

Approximately 7-1/2 kilos of heroin was seized with an estimated street value of $455,000.
