Jury Trial for Wilkey Set for August

An August jury trial has been scheduled for Effingham resident Aaron Wilkey.

The 27-year-old Wilkey is charged with improper actions against an eight-year-old family member on multiple occasions since last October. He faces a Class X felony count of predatory criminal sexual assault, meaning mandatory prison time if found guilty.

In court Tuesday, Wilkey pleaded not guilty. Judge Allan Lolie set a jury trial for Wilkey on August 28, with pre-trial hearings on August 3 and August 17.

Wilkey is being held in Effingham County Jail on $25,000 bond and, if he bonds out, must not have contact with anyone under age 18.
