Man Fatally Injured When Trailer Falls on Him

A man was fatally injured Tuesday morning when a semi trailer he was working on fell on him.

The incident occurred at 11:01am on the parking lot of Pinnacle Foods on South Banker in Effingham.

City Police Chief Jeffrey Fuesting said the man who has died was 59-year-old Lowell Ingram of Alma. An air ambulance was called to the scene, but was sent back to base and a land-based ambulance was utilized to take Ingram to HSHS St. Anthony's Memorial Hospital in Effingham. Chief Fuesting said Ingram died at St. Anthony's Tuesday afternoon.

The chief said Ingram was performing routine maintenance on the trailer when the incident occurred.

Effingham city police and firefighters were on scene, along with a local tow service and Effingham City-County Ambulance Service. Teutopolis firefighters were called to Effingham for backup in case of another call.
