One of two men arrested in connection with burglaries in Effingham last weekend has pleaded guilty and is working with prosecutors in the case against his co-defendant.

32-year-old Michael L. Brown of Effingham was arrested shortly after 6pm Monday on a count of possession of stolen property. Effingham County State's Attorney Bryan Kibler said Brown was placed on 30 months' probation and given credit for time served in jail prior to the guilty plea.

Two burglaries to motor vehicles were reported Monday morning to Effingham city police. Both vehicles were parked in the 1900 block of South Banker. DJ equipment and CDs valued at more than $4,500 were taken from one vehicle, and more than $1,400 in power tools were taken from a work truck.

Kibler said Brown admitted to having the stolen items, but is indicating that Griffin committed the burglaries. Griffin faces two counts of burglary. He is next due in court on May 31.
