Altamont is getting ready for end-of-school-year activities.

Chief among those is high school commencement, set for Saturday night at 7:00, and 8th grade recognition, set for today at 2pm. Baccalaureate is tonight at 7:00.

Those dates were shared at this month's school board meeting.

The Board took action on personnel matters at the meeting. Those included accepting resignations from grade school PE teacher Aaron Lock and from 4th grade teacher Tiffany Deuel, hiring Sheri Schafer as family and consumer science teacher for the coming year, and accepting letters of retirement from Angie Braasch and Sally Zimmerman.

Board members adopted a resolution to issue general obligation school bonds in the amount of $155,000 for health and life safety upgrades, approved a bond for district treasurer Rita Guse, set a budget hearing for June 12, and hired Glass and Shuffett to conduct the annual audit.

Superintendent Jeff Fritchtnitch reported that work on the grade school playground renovation is to begin on May 22.
