Hobnob Spring Market, a unique vintage and handmade shopping event, is coming to the Effingham County Fairgrounds at Altamont Friday and Saturday. Hobnob Market promoters Scott and Holly Snelling held a fall Hobnob Market at the fairgrounds in 2016, but this will be the first Spring Market to take place there. Several thousand shoppers attend the market each year.

Around 140 handpicked vendors from all over the Midwest will be bringing vintage finds and handmade goods for the market.

Vintage styles found at the market range from farmhouse to industrial to midcentury to primitive. Handmade goods include jewelry and accessories, children's gifts, boutique clothing, and home decor. Each booth is set up like a miniature shop with a distinct creative style.

The Hobnob Market offers a Hold Station inside the market to stash furniture pieces you've bought, plus big or heavy items. Purchases can be held for as long as you're shopping and then you can drive right up to the Hold Station building to load. There will be porters on hand to help you carry and load.

Food including barbecue, American egg rolls, gourmet pizza, and baked goods will be available at the market along with other treats plus wine, beer and summery sangria by Tuscan Hills Winery.

There are two events:

The Fresh Picked Party is Friday from 2-8pm. It's an early bird shopping party. Enjoy first dibs on all the one-of-a-kind vintage and handmade pieces at the market. The Wildwood String Band will be playing. Tickets are $10 per person in advance (available on Facebook or www.hobnobmarket.com) and $15 per person at the gate on party night.

The Market Day is Saturday from 9am-4pm. It's a fun day full of finds and friends, food, music and giveaways. Admission is $5 per person at the gate or free with a Friday night wristband. Children 12 and younger are admitted free both Friday night and Saturday.
