EJ Water Cooperative is embarking on another project, this one designed to modernize water distribution to areas of Clay County and Fayette County.

The pre-construction meeting for Phase 35 in the growth of EJ was held Tuesday morning. EJ CEO Bill Teichmiller said the project in Clay County will involve replacing water mains and meters in the Sailor Springs community. The work in Fayette County involves water main and meter replacement work between St. Elmo and St. Peter in the St. James and Loogootee areas, as well as some water line replacement.

Teichmiller said the work will provide an upgrade in service to existing EJ customers. About 150 to 160 people will be affected by the upgrade. The work involves systems that EJ has inherited as it continues to expand its coverage area.

The work is to begin June 1 and be completed in early October.
