Fire destroyed an outbuilding on the Jim Hoene farm north of Sigel over the weekend.

Sigel firefighters were called to the scene just after 10:30am Saturday. Dave Koester of the Sigel department said a State Fire Marshal's Office representative inspected the building but couldn't determine the cause of the fire, which is now listed as undetermined.

The fire destroyed a 60-by-150-foot combination machine shed and storage shed. Farm machinery, hay and straw inside were all a total loss.

Sigel firefighters were assisted by companies from Neoga, Windsor, Teutopolis, Montrose, Shumway, Wabash, Stewardson and Strasburg. Montrose, Dieterich and Beecher City Tri-County firefighters staffed the Sigel station while Sigel crews were at the fire scene.

78,000 gallons of water was used on the fire.

No one was injured.

Fire crews cleared the scene about 4:30pm.
